August 2026
Dear Parents, Families, Staff and Community Members,
As we prepare to welcome everyone back for the 2026–27 school year, we want to provide an update on the ongoing construction and improvements taking place across our elementary, middle, and high school campuses.
At the elementary school, the new bathrooms in A-Wing and D-Wing are nearing completion, and the auditorium is also close to being finished. The students in the Little Critters Summer programs have already had access to the new bathrooms in the cafeteria. The C-Wing bathrooms are in progress and should be completed within the first month of school. We have ample working toilets to meet the needs of the building, and we are excited to see these spaces take shape. We are looking forward to having them available for our students and staff as we begin the school year.
At the middle school, the playground is now open and has been safety checked and approved for use. An outdoor drinking fountain is scheduled to be installed in the near future. Final electrical work is currently being completed inside the building as we put the finishing touches on the electrical panel upgrades and emergency generator tie-in.
The high school remains a work in progress. The cafeteria bathrooms, and the roofs over the gymnasium and auditorium have been completed, and the floor has been raised in the office complex. These improvements represent significant progress as we continue moving forward with the project. Most of the demolition work will be completed before school starts.
Separate from our 2024 Capital Improvement Project (CIP), the high school gymnasium has received a fresh coat of paint, and new scoreboards will be arriving in time for basketball season.
We are also pleased to share that our School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) grant is now in year one. As part of this work, new security cameras have been installed, along with a flashing light system to provide an additional means of internal communication and notification in case of emergency. This project is ongoing and will be completed over the course of the next three years.
Construction will continue on the second and third stories of the 1911 building as we begin the school year. These areas will be secured and separated from occupied areas to ensure a safe environment for everyone, in the same way that we had areas separated during last year’s work.
We know that construction can bring adjustments and occasional inconveniences, and we will be working through these as the school year begins. This is an exciting time for our district, and we look forward to sharing continued updates as the work progresses. Stay tuned for more information regarding the continuation of the project and the maintenance and improvement of our district for years to come. Visit our district website at www.royhart.org for updated information.
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and commitment to our schools and our students.
Sincerely,
Jill Heck
Superintendent
