Introduction
Careful course selection is a critical part of your high school experience — a chance for decision-making in partnership with parents and school personnel. This manual describes every course with pertinent information, prerequisites, and credits so you can understand each subject and choose wisely.
Now is the time for careful consideration. You are accountable for your decisions. After courses are chosen, we build a master schedule that reflects them — and once resources are committed in the spring, changing courses becomes very difficult. If you or your parent/guardian have questions, call the Counseling Department at (716) 735-2000 ext. 2306. Every student should know which classes and Regents exams they need to graduate.
Course Change Policy
Our goal is to prevent failure rather than react to it. Through early identification, personal contact, and conferencing, everyone works to promote success. Because New York State graduation requirements ask students to take and pass higher-level courses, keeping communication open with your School Counselor matters.
Counselors help you select the best courses for your future plans. Over four years, assessments such as the PSAT and ASVAB help you learn your strengths — do your best on them so accurate data supports your planning. College and career readiness is our focus.

College Offerings
Roy-Hart holds articulation agreements with Niagara University, Niagara County Community College (NCCC), Genesee Community College, and SUNY Cobleskill. Many CAP courses require prerequisite coursework or testing — reference the NCCC catalog (and the college catalog for P-TECH) when choosing coursework.
College course prerequisites
- Pre-Calculus (MAT 116) — 70% on the Algebra 2 Regents exam
- Statistics (MAT 164) — 70% on the Algebra 2 Regents or Geometry exam
- Writing I (ENG 101) — 80% overall high school average, or passing scores on the Reading and Math NCCC placement exams
Students in a college course follow all of the home college's expectations for conduct, grading, attendance, and assignments. College grades appear on a college transcript, and each course has its own enrollment, tuition, and grading deadlines. It is the college student's responsibility to manage their college course load.
NCAA Clearinghouse
Students planning to compete in Division I or II college athletics must be certified by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Stay in close communication with your counselor — NCAA requirements change frequently and transcripts must be submitted by your counselor. It is the student's responsibility to manage this process and notify their counselor as needed.
Parent Portal
eSchool is the district's electronic student management system, and the Parent Portal is your doorway into it — giving families access to information about their children and their academic progress. Access it from the Royalton-Hartland CSD web homepage. Check quarterly and progress reports frequently, as the High School no longer mails paper copies.
